FAQ's
I can't decide what Garage Door is best for me. What would you recommend?
A visit to our showroom where we have all our doors on display and can advise you on what will best suit your needs. Just contact us to arrange a time.
What is the standard size of a Garage Door?
All our doors are made to measure so there is no standard size but for a domestic garage the most popular size is 8'0'' or 2.4m wide and 7'0'' or 2.1m high.
What measurements do I need to take to get a quote?
We can visit you to give an accurate quotation for your garage door but to get a quotation by phone or email please provide us with the following measurements:
Opening width - if it's not a new garage and your current door has a frame take the measurement of the blockwork opening
Opening height
Headroom clearance - when inside your garage looking out this is the distance from the bottom of the lintel to the roof or ceiling
Sideroom clearance - when inside your garage looking out this is the distance from the edge of your opening to the side walls
How long will I be waiting for my Garage Door?
We will have your door fitted in 2 to 3 weeks from the date of order. This lead time may increase for special order items such as sectional garage doors with a custom paint colour.
What clearance above the lintel do I need for a Roller or Sectional Garage Door?
For a standard non insulated roller 18'' or 450mm is required to achieve full opening height. We can also offer a mini version enabling installation in areas with reduced headroom. Full opening height for a mini roller requires only 13'' or 330mm headroom. Insulated roller doors require 14'' or 355mm of headroom to give full opening height.
Sectional garage doors can be fitted in as little as 8'' or 200mm clearance.
What colours are available?
The non insulated garage door has 14 colour options while the insulated roller garage door is available in 13 different colours. Our sectional garage door range has a number of colour options as standard - white, black, anthracite, rosewood, golden oak. In addition, unlike roller garage doors, we can custom paint a sectional garage door to any RAL colour.
What maintenance does my Garage Door need?
Apart from cleaning your garage door with warm soapy water several times a year very little maintenance is required. Occasionally clean down the guides and spray with furniture polish to keep your non insulated roller garage door running smoothly. Sectional garage doors require periodic light oiling to ensure smooth operation.
Can I automate my Garage Door?
While the insulated roller door is automated as standard the non insulated roller and sectional doors are available either manual or automated. Provided the necessary room is available (sideroom in the case of the non insulated roller door / headroom in the case of the sectional door) these doors can be automated at any time and not just initially when the door is installed.
How many remote controls do I get with my automated Garage Door?
We supply 2 remote control handsets with every automated door along with a wallstation inside the garage. Additional handsets are available if required.
Will I be able to open my automated Garage Door if the power fails?
Yes, all our automated garage doors can be manually opened from the inside in the event of a power failure.
Can I get replacement keys for my Roller Garage Door?
Broken keys are commonplace with roller garage doors as people forget to remove the key before lifting the door causing it to break against the lintel. To get replacements simply contact us with the key number which can be found on the head of the broken key. Alternatively look at the back of the lock from inside your garage, at the right hand side of the lock the key number will either be engraved or on a sticker.
